Barcode scanner or device camera scanning
Setup POS hardware
Any POS hardware you want to connect is optional, although there is certain hardware that will make your life easier! You can start using ConsignHQ today without any POS hardware and add it as you find the need.
Barcode scanner or device camera scanning
When you’re recording sales you will find it easier if you can scan a barcode on a product tag rather than searching for a product or typing out the SKU. To do this, you’ll need a barcode scanner that can connect to the device/computer you are using (most scanners support usb or bluetooth), or you’ll need to record transactions on a device with a camera that can be used for scanning (such as an iPad).
Printers for product tags / labels
If you have a printer you’ll be able to print product tags/barcodes using either SKUs you enter or ones that ConsignHQ can auto generate for you. There are two ways to print tags in ConsignHQ: Using a regular printer onto an A4 or Letter size ‘Avery label sheet’, for this we recommend at least a black & white laser printer to generate crisp barcodes that will easily scan.
If there is a Avery Label sheet size you want to use and we don’t already support it, we will gladly add it for you! You can customize your avery labels and see the templates sizes available here: https://app.consignhq.com/sheet-settings
Or you can print to a label printer (you’ll need to make sure you can connect to it when printing from the browser - e.g Chrome - that you are signed in as. You can customize label printer settings on your dashboard at: https://app.consignhq.com/label-printer-settings

Receipt and report printing
If you want to print customer receipts you can also print to any printer you can connect to from your browser, including receipt printers. After a Sale is made there is a 'Print Receipt' button you can click. Reciepts can also be emailed to customers which is the most environmentaly friendly option!
In adtional to being emailable, consignor reports and invoices can also be printed - but require a printer than can do A4 or Letter size so a receipt printer will not be suitable.
Other POS h ardware
When you make a sale (by scanning barcodes or quickly searching for products) the transaction total is tallied up based on the price, qty, taxes, discounts, etc that apply. You can then apply the calculated amount to POS hardware (cash register/card terminal, etc) in the same way you usually would. If you choose cash as the payment method change will be calculated by ConsignHQ.
We don’t (yet! it's in development) offer integrated card processing at checkout. If you have a card reader/terminal, ring up the sale in ConsignHQ to tally up the transaction totals, record the payment type as card, and process the payment as you usually would on the card terminal (entering the total calculated by ConsignHQ), then click ‘finalize payment’ in ConsignHQ.
If you're looking for terminal hardware for your store we recommend Stripe Terminal https://stripe.com/en-nz/terminal and using the BBPOS WisePOS™ E as a version of ConsignHQ in development will offer integration with this model.
